I really hope we can move on as a country, as there are major problems to tackle......but it depends on the opposition. They have a choice....continue with the scorched earth, or be reasonable.....we'll see....
1/ I found this quite interesting, as I know there would have been some of the same emotions on the Democratic side if Romney had prevailed.......worth reading for everyone......
Losing sucks—and healing is hard. Paul Begala offers some friendly advice to his Republican friends on how to work through their political heartbreak.
The most powerful and profound words of the 2012 election were spoken by Michelle Obama: “Being president,” she said, “doesn’t change who you are, it reveals who you are.” So does running for president. Character is shown in adversity, and President Obama, who took office in the most adverse of circumstances; who stumbled critically in the first debate; who was hit with a depression in his first days of his term and a hurricane in the last, has shown his character. With his relentless, gifted, remarkable team he has accomplished a near-miracle—winning a second term with neither peace nor prosperity to run on.

I am deeply impressed and of course happy. For me this is the best thing since canned beer. But I want to devote this space to my Republican friends. As another president who once drove you crazy used to say, “I feel your pain.”
Now it’s time to reveal your character. A loss is tough. Sure you had some forewarning, especially after Rush Limbaugh guaranteed victory. That was when you knew things were bad. “Common sense,” he bellowed, “tells me this election isn’t gonna be close—and it shouldn’t be.” The last guy who was as wrong in a prediction as Rush was when General Custer said “I bet there’s no Sioux over that hill, let’s head over there!”
So in an effort to help, Dr. Paul the campaign psychologist is here to walk you through your five stages of political grief. And don’t worry about paying me. I’ll be reimbursed by Obamacare because a) Obamacare is not going to be repealed; and b) the GOP’s loss was a pre-existing condition.
Stage 1: Denial. Right now, you are denying you lost. Stop. You lost. You really lost.
2/ One of the characteristics of a Fox News viewer is an inability to assimilate facts, and/or reality. Here is a vivid illustration of how the right believes it's own spin, and it's Karl Rove arguing with the Fox Newsroom after they called the election for the President.
The second clip below is Megyn Kelly asking the analysts if they would change their minds after Rove's objections.....
Fascinating.....no wonder Fox viewers live in another reality......
Fox News had what can only be described as an insane argument with itself over whether or not President Obama had won Ohio, and the presidency.
The network seemed quite confident in its projections at first, but suddenly, pundit Karl Rove — who, as leader of a huge conservative Super PAC has something of an interest in the outcome of the race — began to pour cold water on the call.
Fox News' Chris Wallace then said that Gov. Mitt Romney's campaign is contesting the network's decision to call President Obama's re-election.
3/ Needless to say MSNBC noticed the confusion over at Fox, and Rachel Maddow and Chuck Todd are bemused.....
Same issue, acceptance of reality.....one minute......
Rachel Maddow ripped Karl Rove for disputing President Obama's victory on Fox News on Tuesday night.
Fox News had called the election for Obama when Rove, a Fox News contributor, began to argue with the network about the announcement. Rove said it was "premature" and "early" to make any real decisions, prompting some awkward reactions from anchors Bret Baier and Megyn Kelly and plain disbelief from observers.
Over at MSNBC, Maddow took stock of the situation. “I don’t mean to cross-advertise here, but on the conservative cable news network Fox News Channel – Fox News Channel called Ohio for Obama, but the on-air talent at Fox News Channel is refusing to concede that they believe it," she said.

4/ This is a story about early voting in South Florida where huge lines were the order of the day. On Tuesday it wasn't quite as bad, but two to three hour waits to vote were common. I could fill the page with nightmare stories, but it's all the same - a blatant, cynical but ultimately unsucessful attempt to disenfranchise Democratic voters in South Florida. I did two rounds of the eight polling stations in the Mount Dora area [yes 8 polling places for about 10,000 people], once in the morning and once in the afternoon, and there were no lines of people waiting at all. Of course Lake County consistently votes 55-60% Republican so there are plenty of machines and funds for poll workers.
I'll bet there are waaaay too few machines in South Florida, and no money for the help needed.
Blatant fraud, executed by our certified asshole of a Governor. It's only because of the determination of the voters in the south to have their voice heard that the results were blue.
People are getting out to vote -- but many of them are having to wait in line for three or four hours to do so. One contributor to DailyKos claimed it took 9 hours to vote. In Miami-Dade on Saturday, people who had gotten in line by 7:00 p.m. were allowed to vote; the last person wasn't checked in until 1 a.m., meaning it took some individuals six hours to cast a ballot.
"We're looking at an election meltdown that is eerily similar to 2000, minus the hanging chads," said Dan Smith, a political science professor at the University of Florida.
Miami-Dade attempted to deal with the problem on Sunday by allowing voters to cast absentee ballots in person between 1:00 and 5:00 p.m. However, after just two hours, the Miami-Dade elections department shut down the location after too many people showed up. People outside the locked doors were reportedly screaming, "We want to vote!"
"They didn't have the infrastructure," filmmaker Lucas Leyva, who was among those turned away, told The Huffington Post's Janie Campbell. "We read the press release and everything that went out this morning, promising we'd be able to get absentee ballots and vote. We got here and there was a line of hundreds of people all being told the same thing, that that wasn't true anymore. You could drop off [a ballot], but they could not issue one."
5/ Two states have just legalised weed, and let's hope this war on the least dangerous popular drug is winding down. Against legalisation is the prison industry, courts and lawyers and social conservatives, so it not an easy battle.
We will be looking to the President for some leadership on this issue.....surely it's non-partisan, as plenty of Republicans smoke pot......
Colorado and Washington became the first states to legalize recreational marijuana in the prohibition era on Tuesday, dealing a major blow to the war on drugs. Medical marijuana was also legalized in Massachusetts, underlining long-running trends in public opinion toward more permissive attitudes on drugs.
"To put this into historical context, there is no historical context," said Tom Angell, spokesperson for Law Enforcement Against Prohibition. "It's the first time any state has ever voted to legalize marijuana -- and two of them did it."
The votes marked a significant shift from decades of tough-on-crime policies that burned through $1 trillion in tax dollars over 40 years, led to the arrest of 850,000 Americans for marijuana law violations in 2010 alone, and fueled the rise of deadly drug cartels abroad. But even as pot reformers celebrated their long-sought victories, the threat of a confrontation with the federal government loomed.
6/ Phew - all of the nasty Florida amendments failed......three passed but were the minor ones and won't be too costly.
TALLAHASSEE -- The Florida Legislature loaded up this year's historically long ballot with 11 lengthy and confusing constitutional amendments -- only to see voters reject almost all of them.
Eight of the amendments failed to get the requisite 60 percent vote, including a massive property tax overhaul, new abortion restrictions and a "religious freedom" proposal.
The amendments made for long ballots, which clogged precincts and caused voters to wait for hours in some cases. It was the worst outcome for constitutional amendments since 1978, when all nine of the state's proposed amendments failed.
The amendments made for long ballots, which clogged precincts and caused voters to wait for hours in some cases. It was the worst outcome for constitutional amendments since 1978, when all nine of the state's proposed amendments failed.
Several groups, including the League of Women Voters, called on Floridians to reject all 11 proposals, which they labeled as misleading and inappropriate.
"It's a real tribute to Florida voters that they took the time to research the facts, and they sent the entree back to the kitchen," said Deirdre Macnab, president of the League of Women Voters of Florida.
The most heavily advertised proposal, Amendment 4, failed miserably after Realtors groups spent more than $4.7 million to pass the property tax overhaul.
It would have provided property tax relief to first-time home buyers, second homeowners and businesses, while potentially gutting local governments of billions of dollars in future revenue. Opponents were heavily outspent but argued the tax breaks would go to businesses and wealthy snowbirds, shifting the tax burden onto permanent residents.
Voters rejected it by a lopsided margin, giving it less than 43 percent of the vote.
Other property tax amendments fared much better, with just over 60 percent of voters approving targeted tax relief for veterans (Amendment 2), poor senior-citizens (Amendment 11) and spouses of military veterans killed in the line of action (Amendment 9).
But the other amendments failed by big margins.
7/ Yeay - the other dangerous campaign by the Republican Party of Florida failed - the three Florida Supreme Court justices were retained,
TALLAHASSEE (CBS4/NSF) – Despite an effort by the Republican Party of Florida and social conservatives to unseat them, three Supreme Court justices easily survived merit retention votes Tuesday.
Justices R. Fred Lewis, Barbara Pariente and Peggy Quince were all carrying two-thirds of the vote into the evening, well more than the simple majority they needed to hold onto their seats. The justices did not face opponents but needed the approval of voters to remain on the court.
No Supreme Court justice has ever lost a merit retention race.
Pariente said in an interview that the justices’ victory rebuffed an effort by outside special interests to hijack the bench.
“So the message is: ‘If you are outside the state and you are trying to politicize our judicial branch, stay out. This is an assault on our democracy, our separation of powers, and we’re not going to tolerate attempts to implement partisan politics for special interests,’” she said.

9/ OK OK a funny video....2 minutes.....
One of the signers for the deaf had a media moment during the Hurricane Sandy crisis, which of course attracted the attention of spoofers......quite a good one......1 1/2 minutes.......
10/ All right, another one......
Mary and I have a routine for dealing with loud, obnoxious people on their cellphone but this was a new one.....amusing.....2 minutes....
Oh well......here's your joke.....
A man boarded an airplane and took his seat. As he settled in, he glanced up and saw the most beautiful woman boarding the plane. He soon realized she was heading straight towards his seat. As fate would have it, she took the seat right beside his. Eager to strike up a conversation he blurted out, "Business trip or pleasure?"
She turned, smiled and said, "Business. I'm going to the Annual
Nymphomaniacs of America Convention in Boston ."He swallowed hard. Here was the most gorgeous woman he had ever seensitting next to him, and she was going to a meeting of nymphomaniacs.
Struggling to maintain his composure, he calmly asked, "What's your business role at this convention?""Lecturer," she responded. "I use information that I have learned from mypersonal experiences to debunk some of the popular myths about sexuality."Really?" he said. "And what kind of myths are there?"
"Well," she explained, "one popular myth is that African-American men are
the most well-endowed of all men, when in fact it is the Native American
Indian who is most likely to possess that trait. Another popular myth is
that Frenchmen are the best lovers, when actually it is men of Jewish
descent who are the best. I have also discovered that the lover with
absolutely the best stamina is the Southern Redneck."
Suddenly the woman became a little uncomfortable and blushed. "I'm sorry," she said, "I shouldn't really be discussing all of this with you. I don't even know your name."
"Tonto," the man said, "Tonto Goldstein, but my friends call me Bubba."
