An illuminating story about millennials and how their future has been altered by......you, and me....
It's written in an interactive format, with incredible graphics and cool special effects but the cleverness helps drive home the message that consciously [and often unconsciously] we boomers have screwed the next generation.
This is a well written and epiphany-like story, and needs to be read folks because even though you may have kids and grandchildren, you are probably unaware of the pressures they are under. We boomers tend to see the youth of today through a filter from the 70's and 80's, and don't understand how our society has changed for this generation.
An excellent article....
I am 35 years old—the oldest millennial, the first millennial—and for a decade now, I’ve been waiting for adulthood to kick in. My rent consumes nearly half my income, I haven’t had a steady job since Pluto was a planet and my savings are dwindling faster than the ice caps the baby boomers melted.
WHAT’S A MILLENNIAL ANYWAY?
Unless otherwise noted, we mean anyone born between 1982 and 2004
We’ve all heard the statistics. More millennials live with their parents than with roommates. We are delaying partner-marrying and house-buying and kid-having for longer than any previous generation. And, according to The Olds, our problems are all our fault: We got the wrong degree. We spend money we don’t have on things we don’t need. We still haven’t learned to code. We killed cereal and department stores and golf and napkins an d lunch. Mention “millennial” to anyone over 40 and the word “entitlement” will come back at you within seconds, our own intergenerational game of Marco Polo.
