I consider myself pretty well informed, but I must confess the Keystone Pipeline issue has largely been under my radar - my perception was the fact the oil industry wants it to be built means it's probably bad for the environment and indeed the country, but that was as far as it went.
That's why this video is so eyeopening - I had no idea about the Tar Sands in Alberta and how devastating this awful industry is for the environment, and the planet. The Keystone pipeline is part of the problem, but the real issue is the dirty oil produced by the tar sands - the pipeline is the vehicle taking this oil to the refineries.
Environmental groups have been lobbying hard against the Keystone Pipeline, but we aren't really aware how the Canadians have allowed their country be the third dirtiest polluter on the planet. When Bill McKibben, the green activist, said if the Keystone Pipeline was allowed to be built it was "game over" for the planet, I like you went "yeah, right"......
But after seeing this 17 minute presentation from TED, given by the nature photographer Garth Lenz, I now agree with him.
Watch this video.....and you will too.....
And if and when the Keystone Pipeline is approved you will know the planet is basically gone........
I know there are a number of Canadians who get this blog - so how has a "good guy country" like Canada become so corrupt? Where are we going to go if Santorum gets the Presidency?
